Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals with the show, with the most significant one being $350,000 in 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in an Irish-Catholic working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran remembers her fatheras a man who sometimes drank too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic primary school within her neighborhood and began high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in several courses her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
